Tags
Wednesday 5 October 2022, IRO and HHWE organized a South Korea Offshore Wind Information Session at Maritiem Museum in Rotterdam.
The event was organized in the framework of Wind and water works (www).
Korean Trade-Investment Promotion Agency - KOTRA, Pondera and Monobase Wind informed the audience on the current offshore wind developments in South Korea. After the presentations, a lively discussion followed on policy issues, local content and business culture.
Important takeaways are that:
South Korea will continue with the deployment of offshore wind, even if the new government policy will prioritize nuclear power.
The starting position of the Korean supply chain is very good, especially for floating wind, but Korean companies have lack of in-country experience with offshore wind installation.
Teaming-up with the Dutch offshore wind sector could bring many advantages.
With the support of KOTRA and the Netherlands Enterprise Agency - RVO a www action plan offshore wind Korea 2023 will be set-up.
The action plan will focus on matchmaking between Korean and Dutch offshore wind business and the organization of trade mission(s).
