On October 21st the second “CESA – Netherlands Connect” webinar took place. The topic of this webinar was “Offshore wind ports and the supply chain”. The webinar was organized by CESA (Clean Energy States Alliance), the Consulate General in New York, Holland Home of Wind Energy (HHWE) and RVO/ICEP.
The program consisted of 3 Dutch speakers and 3 speakers from the US side. After the presentations there was an interesting discussion. The Dutch speakers were Eemshaven, BOW terminal in the port of Vlissingen and Royal HaskoningDHV.
With the installation of Biden administration, the ambition of the US in the field of offshore wind has increased significantly. The new target is now 30 GW in 2030. Until now, the focus was mainly on the East Coast, but the Gulf of Mexico and the West Coast are now also being looked at for the development of new offshore wind farms. With the increase in ambitions, the demand for components also increases. In addition, the pressure on the ports to build and maintain the wind farms is also increasing. This offers opportunities for Dutch companies.
